I agree sometimes you cant be nice to people around the city, but sometimes it really pays off. I got into a movie premiere after talking to a guy about his iphone cause he didn't understand something. He ended up being the producer of Yours, Mine, and Ours.
it was pretty sweet and I met a lot of really cool people
